MSI Chicago Hand Painted Glass Ornament
This one-of-a-kind, hand painted glass ornament is exclusively sold at the Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago. Featuring the recognizable Beaux Arts architecture of MSI’s building—which dates back to 1893—this elegant glass ornament was hand-painted by a skilled artist using special narrow brushes and pointed sticks. This painting technique is known as a reverse glass painting and is an art form found throughout Asia. The process for painting each ornament begins with the artist using a brush to carefully create an outline of the image, inside the ornament. Then, the artist slowly fills in the colors. The entire process takes place over several days and the result is a beautiful and unique collectible. Though the design is similar, each ornament possess its own unique handcrafted character.
